Blogging in 2010

I have recovered from Christmas and a UTI, and I'm back in the blogging business.  Christmas was great, and the girls loved their quilts.  It has been so cold I'm sure they are getting lots of use out of them.  I know I am using mine every day.  This has been the coldest winter in years.  Where's that global warming when you need it?  The entire US is having extremely cold temps.  Even Florida has iguanas falling out of trees because they go into hibernation when the temperature drops so much.

Here are the girls with their quilts on Christmas morning.

New years day brought a little excitement to Frio County when a small plane (a Maule) ran out of fuel and had to land on FM 1581 in the dark.  The pilot had tried to land in Crystal City but was unable to get the lights on the runway to turn on, so he headed for Pearsall, but didn't quite make it to the airport.  He landed between power lines in one of the few places there were no wires across the road. He was flying in a plane owned by a missionary group, so I'm pretty sure that he, his wife, and his son were all praying.  I don't think they would have landed safely without divine intervention.

I'm busy quilting the ORBCquilt-along #4, and should be able to post a picture soon.  Only four more blocks to quilt, and then binding.  I'm thinking about the next quilt.  This weather is great for quilting-- much more so than the high nineties and hundreds that are right around the corner.  So I'll strike while the iron is cold (HA).
