Today I went to South Texas Blood and Tissue Center and donated a pint of blood. I came home with a really cool beach towel. Two donations during the summer qualify you for an HEB gift card. I'm also entered for a chance to win four tickets to Fiesta Texas. Pretty good for something I'm willing to do for free. I like the fact that I am CMV negative, and my blood is reserved for newborns and cancer patients. Today was my forty-fourth donation, and forty-eighth component donation.
Susie, I am both a phlebotomy tech at STBTC and a regular blood and platelet donor. Thank you for your generous (and frequent) donations. As you know, the wonderful feeling that donating brings absolutely eclipses the tiny bit of discomfort one feels. I wish more people would see it that way. I hope to see you in 8 weeks (or sooner for platelets!).
